Helpin’ out is one small thing I know I can give back with my art
It all started with a simple idea of making people feel empowered in the streets of Chicago, where I was living at the time. I wanted to use my mural work as a way to brighten neighborhoods, to add color to bleak and depressingly grey streets of certain parts of the city. I used the name Limpio, to “clean” the sadness and gang graffiti in various neighborhoods that many businesses or organizations just didn’t have a budget for positive public artwork. I aimed to give local businesses, schools, non-profits, and community-run spaces, artwork and color that gave them pride in their place and strengthened made neighbors smile when they pass by.
With Limpio, I traveled the world and painted in Argentina, Uruguay, Thailand, and parts of the United States. I continue to paint free or low-cost murals with GOON$ as well.
